Q. When do Mandarin House courses start?
A. Non-beginners may join a group on any Monday. Mandarin House has start dates every 2 weeks or 4 weeks for total beginners.                                                    See Dates & Prices
Q. How will I know my level?
A. On your arrival at our school, Mandarin House will give you a placement test consisting of a grammar written test and an oral interview. Based on this test, you will be placed into the appropriate level.
Questions About Mandarin House
Q. Where do your students come from?
A. Mandarin House teaches students from more than 70 different countries from around the world. The actual percentages vary with the season and with the school. In general, 25% of our students come from North America, 25% come from West Europe, the rest come from other parts of the world.
Q. What age are the students?
A. Students of all ages have studied at Mandarin House from 5 to 75 years! Most of our students average between 23 and 35 years old.                                                            See 2009 Age Chart
Questions About Visa
Q. Which type of visa should I apply?
A. Mandarin House suggests all international students to apply for “L visa” (tourist visa) or “F visa” (business visitor visa) in their own country before entering China. “L Visa” is usually valid from 30 to 90 days. “L Visa” is the most easy, and fastest to obtain. “F Visa” is usually valid from 60 to 180 days. Students can extend their visa when they are in China. To avoid misunderstanding, all students should NOT mention studying Chinese when they apply for a tourist or visitor visa.
Q. Can I obtain a student visa?
A. No. The student visa is for those who study at universities.
Q. Can Mandarin House provide JW201 or JW202 form?
A.  Mandarin House does not provide these forms.

Q. What can I do in my free time?
A. Mandarin House arranges plenty after class activities and weekend excursions. We offer a variety of cultural activities each month to provide even more opportunities for you to practice your Chinese and learn about the culture in China.
Q. Where will I live while I study at Mandarin House?
A. Mandarin House offers a variety of accommodations. Our most popular option is Single Room Shared Apartment and Home Stay. We can also arrange Private Studio Apartments, Hostel or Hotel accommodations.

Questions About Payment
Q. How can I pay?
A. Full Payment must be received upon registration. If you live outside of China, you may pay by bank transfer or paypal; If you live in China, you may come to our school to pay by credit card, cash or make a bank transfer.
